YOUNG EUROPEAN RESEARCH UNIVERSITIES NETWORK (YERUN)
The University of Antwerp is part of the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN). The goal is to have a vote at the European and international forums. The network is committed to close cooperation in the areas of teaching, research and innovation. The University of Antwerp participates yearly in the Yerun Sport Days and in the Yerun partner Rome Tor Vergata Games.
EUROPEAN NETWORK OF ACADEMIC SPORT SERVICES (ENAS)
The University of Antwerp is an active member of ENAS, the university attends the ENAS Conference each year and organized the ENAS Conference in 2011. More information on www.enas-sport.net.
The PCU Committee is the university sport oriented platform of Panathlon International, the global leader in sport ethics and IOC recognized since 1982. The PCU Committee organizes and endorses university sport events with the focus on fair play and ethics in student sport. Sport, Fair Play and international interaction are considered within the Antwerp University Association as highly important for the educational development of students. Also the universal Panathlon values and the recognition of the association by the International Olympic Committee are considered as complementary with the mission of the Antwerp University Association. The European University Sports Association (EUSA) organizes interuniversity championships on a European level. The University of Antwerp participates in these championships when possible. In 2007 the university co-hosted the European Universities Bridge Cup.
The Universiade (Olympic Games for students) and the World University Championships (WUC) are organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Elite Athletes of the University of Antwerp compete on a regular basis in these Universiades and Championships. The University of Antwerp hosted the WUC Cycling in 1978, WUC Cross-Country in 1984, WUC Chess in 1992, WUC Cycling in 2006 and will host the WUC Mind Sports in 2022.
